The Lying Inclusive Song of Hearts That Are Far From God
As a comfort during the COVID-19 shutdown, Tyler Perry assembled some celeb friends to sing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”. This post addresses some clear dangers of following the likes of Perry and T. D. Jakes.
I will get right to the point. Popular Christianity and its celebrity so-called Christians are wrecking people’s lives. It is high time they are more vigorously opposed and openly rebuked.
I ask you. Will we learn nothing from Israel, our example? 1 Corinthians 10:6-11 says that…
“these things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as [Israel] did, 7 or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, “The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.” 8 And we must not engage in sexual immorality as some of them did, causing 23,000 of them to die in one day. 9 Nor should we put Christ to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites. 10 And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. 11 These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.”
By now, you’ve seen or heard of the viral video of Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and many of her celebrity actors singing John Lennon’s completely godless song, “Imagine”
Well, you’ve also likely heard of Actor/Producer Tyler Perry and his celebrity singers’ rendition of the African American spiritual, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”.
Tyler Perry, who claims to be a Christian is arguably one of the most respected black figures in stage and film. He gained much of his acclaim by posing as a woman named Madea. That alone presents many problems for what the Bible says about male and female distinction and dress. “But it’s comedy!” Okay…
Then, of course, his many Madea plays were filled with gospel songs sung by very good singers. However, they were also profanity-laced. “But it’s just comedy!” Oh! Okay…
Then, there were all the non-stop sexual references in those plays. And several of those hit plays were made into major motion pictures, which spawned other popular movies and TV shows.
But Perry must be alright with God because a few years ago, he began preaching at mega-churches…
Enter one reverend T. D. Jakes. Tyler Perry takes the stage in front of thousands at Jakes’ church, The Potter’s House. Perry claims to receive a direct revelation from God telling him to bless Jakes.
Jakes is on-stage with him, and he lays hands on Jakes, sending him into uncontrollable convulsions. So-called armor-bearers have to hold Jakes up to keep him from falling out and hurting himself. Oh by the way, he also gave Jakes a check for 1 million dollars. What theatrics! But, after all, Perry is a director…
The crowd erupts into shouts of praise, tongue-talking, and applause. “But what’s wrong with that!?” Uhm, if you don’t know already, hopefully by the time I’m done, you will.
First of all, T. D. Jakes denies the Trinity and embraces (but never rebukes) people like Oprah who declare that there has to be more than one way to God. Christ excluded all other world religions when He declared in John 14:6 that “I am the way”. Never mind that though. Oprah says otherwise. So let’s make the Lord a liar.
And Tyler Perry? Well, since his memorable anointing of Jakes, he has gone on to create several new TV series that glorify homosexuality, lesbianism, and oh boy! There is his most recent series, RUTHLESS that just released in 2020. IT IS NOTHING SHORT OF RATED X!
But he is a christian, a preacher, and a prophet. So, will pastor T. D. Jakes ever publicly rebuke Tyler Perry who is publicly leading hundreds of thousands, if not millions, astray?
Probably not. To deny the Trinity is to deny the ETERNAL SON OF GOD. And the Bible is clear that you cannot truly have the Father without knowing and having the Son. That also leads hundreds of thousands, if not millions astray.
We need to be on guard, saints! Let me offer you a word from God (THE REAL POTTER) to Israel (OUR EXAMPLE) as found in Isaiah 29:13-16…
“13 And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote. 14 Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders. The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.” 15 What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their evil deeds in the dark! “The LORD can’t see us,” they say. “He doesn’t know what’s going on!” 16 How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it, “He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say, “The potter who made me is stupid”?”
As far as the song these celebrities are singing goes, God does in fact have the whole world in His hands. That means that He has the power to bless or curse it, to save or destroy it, to make it totally pass away or to make it all brand new. And Scripture makes it clear that with those same hands, God will forever keep those who truly trust Christ and bring them to heaven, and He will cast those who don’t truly trust Christ into eternal hellfire.
And while you might think it too forward of someone to call out people of this stature (even T. D. Jakes), the Bible gives us command to mark those who contradict the doctrine, and have nothing to do with them (e.g. Romans 16:17). Scripture also tells us to mark those who obey the apostles’ doctrine and follow them (Philippians 3:17). Beloved, we cannot follow both types!
Finally, we are also warned of such people. May we read and heed what God tells us in Jude 1:14-23:
14 Enoch, who lived in the seventh generation after Adam, prophesied about these people. He said, “Listen! The Lord is coming with countless thousands of his holy ones 15 to execute judgment on the people of the world. He will convict every person of all the ungodly things they have done and for all the insults that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want. 17 But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said. 18 They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. 19 These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them. 20 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, 21 and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. 22 And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. 23 Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.
Did you hear that in verse 19? It said, “THESE PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO ARE CREATING DIVISIONS AMONG YOU”. They do not walk in biblical truth. So, whoever is truly on the Lord’s side, God bless you! Keep singing heaven’s redemption song, and proving the lyrics with godly living that can only come from learning and obeying sound biblical doctrine.
To the rest, I’ll pray for you. But my prayers mean nothing for you if you don’t repent! God will not deny Himself for you, for me, or for anyone else, no matter how good you sound!
